The Philadelphia, PA based punk outfit Bequest have a new offering out, On Hills Will Death Play. It is a slapping seven song EP and a strong statement from the group, which is made up from members of eX-Tradition, Kinetic Orbital Strike, and The Damage. The trio mixes in sludgy grime laden bass and aggressive riffs as the angst and power is all pushed along by killer drums.
Opener "Permanent Resistance" uses growling vocals and static laced guitar to set the tone while "Metal Fuming Fever" focuses more on the grooving low end as the bass and drums lead the charge. The tempo kicks back up for the vibrant chaos of "Assimilation Anitbody" as really excellent drumming propels the track forward while siren like guitar riffs add extra sonic flair to the maelstrom.
"The Farthest Today..." starts with thudding power as the track cascades down a mountain, crashing into a ravine. One aspect of the short EP is the quality in recording as the drums sound spectacular while the muddy bass and guitar cuts through the clutter.
"Pecking Order" has a Motörhead feel to things as the pumping tune cooks with high octane gasoline while chunky guitars slash over the galloping drums of "Threshold From Hell" thrashing with fury. "Volition" kicks up all of the trio's strengths as the echoing growl of the vocals, the ripping riffs, motoring bass and slamming drums all use aggression, concluding the quick EP on an exhilarating high note.
Energetic punk rock the slams with propulsive drumming on Bequest's On Hills Will Death Play, a strong slice of aggressive tunes.
