Dylan Cover #205 Gabriel Mayers "One More Cup Of Coffee"

In this ongoing Monday Series we will be exploring various artists versions of Bob Dylan song's. Today's tune is a cover from Gabriel Mayer and it is live acoustic version of "One More Cup Of Coffee" 

For October RtBE will feature lesser known artists doing live acoustic covers of Dylan tunes. 

 

Thoughts on Dylan Original:
Bob's story tunes seemed to crest on Desire and "One More Cup Of Coffee" fits in the Western/Biblical/Mystical motif of both "Isis" and "Romance In Durango" but puts forth a more ominous feel than either. Singing with Emmylou Harris on the original recording results in a haunting combo of voices which gets along perfectly with violins and other rag tag players from the sessions. A damn good song.

Thoughts on Cover Artist:
I have never heard of Gabriel Mayers until this live acoustic version of "One More Cup Of Coffee", but a quick google search shows that he is a multi-media artist from NYC and you can listen to more of his music at his bandcamp page here.    
Thoughts on Cover:
A really show stopping cover of this song, dramatic but not cheesy. Powerfully played and sung, an excellent cover all around from Mayers. Our favorite of this months focus on lesser known artists doing live acoustic covers.
