A New Single/Video from MuMu "The River"

The NYC based artist Madeline "MuMu" Rhodes has a new single/video out, a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "The River".

About the cover choice MuMu states:
My mother says she and my father were always in love. My father says they never were. She got pregnant and three weeks later they had what my father describes as “a shotgun wedding where we were both pointing shotguns at ourselves”. He told me to listen to The River, by Bruce Springsteen, to understand what it felt like for him at that time. Here is my version of The River, interwoven with my parents’ “love” story…or lack thereof.

Now, pregnant with my first, I wonder about the family I am going to build. I wonder how far the apple falls. Making this album was an effort to understand how things happened, what effect my parents’ relationship had on the relationship I have with myself. It was an effort to heal, to move forward, and to hopefully not make the same mistakes my parents made with me. I hope to listen when my child cries, and never run. I hope to hold them when they kick, and plant my feet firmly in the ground when they push. Inevitably, I will cause them harm. I know this. I hope they find peace from that one day, the way this album helped me find my own.
