Happy 60th Anniversary to Bob Dylan's Bringing It All Back Home

RtBE celebrates Bob Dylan every Monday with our cover series, but today happens to be the 60th Anniversary of the release of his classic Bringing It All Back Home so we wanted to give it a shout out.

A historic and amazing album.

This, could be argued, was the album when Bob Dylan grew up. Gone was the awe-schucks folkie who wrote (fantastic) political tunes and in his place comes a poetic, artistic, burgeoning rocker who mixes swirling poetry with a sense of playful wonder.

The muse was certainly visiting Dylan for the three days he recorded this album in January of '65. He amped up the subversive ("Maggie's Farm" and "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)") to almost punk like intensity, was romantic ("She Belongs To Me" and ""Love Minus Zero/No Limit"), vibrantly poetic ("Mr. Tambourine Man", "Subterranean Homesick Blues" and It's All Over Now Baby Blue") and funny ("Bob Dylan's 115th Dream").

Nothing was off limits and everything was clicking. The only quibble RtBE has with it, is that we were never a fan of "Gates of Eden", but that is personal taste.

RtBE could go on and on, but this is one of the foundational records of rock and roll and should be owned by everyone. Hard to believe he would release another world class album in '65 but that is later in the year....

Today, let's celebrate Bringing It All Back Home, play it loud. Below are a few tunes to get you started:
