The Los Angeles, CA based rocker Kit Major struts out a mix of pop and punk on her newest EP, Miss Ego. Her swagger and confidence oozes from the speakers as the vibrant tracks slam out.
The brief outing opens with a mix of Joan Jett meets The Ramones as "Not As Witty As I Used To Be" is an upbeat cut of female fronted, snarling poppy punk and a great kick-start to things. The slicing guitar and bouncing bass of "Messin' WIth Me" is a rollicking joy as touches of glam and punk mix together for Major.
When she slows down on the title track things aren't as successful, but the vibe instantly picks up with the stampeding "Punk Rock Boyfriend" which is a slamming success. Major mixes in a pinch of post-punk with a large dose of 90's alt-rock vibes during the strong "Invalidate Me" which uses top notch drumming and riffs to support the vocals.
The short EP ends with large crashes and a touch of dance floor ready synths underneath the club rocking finale "Step On My Neck", adding a touch of late night gloss to the album. Major seems to be clicking on all cylinders throughout the exciting EP, hopefully more self assured, ripping rock and roll is coming in the future from this talented artist.
