Happy 45th Anniversary to Tom Petty's Damn The Torpedoes

Happy 45th Anniversary (tomorrow) to Tom Petty's Damn The Torpedoes which was released on October 19th 1979.

Some thoughts and tunes below:

This was the breakthrough record for TP&THB as it was their first in the top ten and has a string of tracks you know, even if you never bought the album..

The opening trio of "Refugee", "Here Comes My Girl" and "Even The Losers" is as solid an opening trio as you can get in power pop/rock. The band was clicking and even lesser known tunes like "Century City" still delighted crowds in concerts decades after the album's release.

The B-side kicks off with the excellent "Don't Do Me Like That" while it wraps up with the extended "Louisiana Rain" as the band closes their best record yet.

So let's do what is best and play the album loud!
