Live Streams Allen Toussaint & Preservation Hall Jazz Band

With live music on lock down (like everything else currently in New York City) live streams and old concerts have become essential for live music junkies like RtBE. While this current state of pandemic separation is in order we will highlight various shows/streams/virtual events for your viewing and listening pleasure and you can always check out or weekly Full Show Friday series for concerts from the past. Please support the artists any which way you can.

Today we highlight: San Francisco Jazz Presents:  Allen Toussaint & Preservation Hall Jazz Band

Obviously this isn't a live stream but it is the first time that this footage is being seen. The Hall played with the late great Allen Toussaint and you can watch tonight @SFJazz:

Preservation Hall Jazz Band is a true New Orleans institution that defines the tradition of Crescent City music. Founded in the early 1960s by tuba player Allan Jaffe, the PHJB is now run by Jaffe’s son, tuba player Ben Jaffe, featuring a multigenerational wealth of New Orleans talent, and were the recipients of the SFJAZZ Lifetime Achievement Award at SFJAZZ Gala 2018. For this incredible evening filmed in November 2014, the PHJB was joined by the late legendary pianist and songwriter Allen Toussaint, one of the most iconic figures in New Orleans music. Toussaint played an integral part in many of the greatest hits to emerge from New Orleans since the 1950s, and his contributions earned him a much-deserved induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Full concert this Friday JUL 3 at 5 PM PT (8 PM ET) with Fridays at Five More information: https://www.SFJAZZ.org/watch
