Having first heard him play with PHJB decades ago it is great to have reviewed his first solo album 89 for Glide a few years back.
Gabriel and company started the celebrations early and this weekend RtBE had the chance to catch the legendary musician himself with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band at Kermit Ruffins Mother-in-Law Lounge.
This was a special show that will live long in RtBE's memory as the tiny club hosted world class musicians in a joyous setting. Seeing Gabriel amongst close friends and family, while expertly playing and (singing "Confessin'"), was amazing.
