Dylan Cover #620 John Mayer "Like A Rolling Stone" Live

In this ongoing Monday Series we will be exploring various artists versions of Bob Dylan song's. Today's artists, John Mayer performing a live cover of "Like A Rolling Stone"

Thoughts on Original:
From the first time we tackled a cover:
The song that launched a true revolution, with an opening snare drum like a dead man's last pistol shot baby. "Like A Rolling Stone" is mega in all fashions, Dylan is accusatory, mad, feed up, zoned out, poetic, rambling and always moving with he sound as the track is large and in charge even today. One of the Bard's top 3 songs any which way you break them down, Like A Rolling Stone has been covered by a ton of people and it (usually) always kicks ass.

Thoughts on Cover Artist:
Having grown from TMZ focal point pop artist to now revered Dead & Co lead guitarist, Mayer has run the gamut musically and is still growing. Our only time seeing him we were really impressed with his playing...until he tried to cover Jimi Hendrix and then we thought this was a kid with a lot of talent who needed to age a bit in all aspects. He has now done that admirably.

Thoughts on Cover:
An upbeat, energetic, well delivered live take on the tune, that features some excellent solo's from Mayer.
