Dylan Cover #691 John Lynch "One More Cup of Coffee" Live

In this ongoing Monday Series we will be exploring various artists versions of Bob Dylan song's. Today's tune is a live cover by John Lynch playing "One More Cup of Coffee"

Thoughts on Dylan Original:
From the first time we tackled a cover of this tune:
Bob's story tunes seemed to crest on Desire and "One More Cup Of Coffee" fits in the Western/Biblical/Mystical motif of both "Isis" and "Romance In Durango" but puts forth a more ominous feel than either. Singing with Emmylou Harris on the original recording results in a haunting combo of voices which gets along perfectly with violins and other rag tag players from the sessions. A damn good song.

Thoughts on Cover Artist:
This is the first time RtBE has heard John Lynch.

Thoughts on Cover:
Seems like it was a great night in Cork back in 2012 celebrating Dylan. A dramatic almost spoken word singing style employed by Lynch works for this one with the simple guitar backing to start before a full band entrance. Lynch plows on, and does an over the top job pushing this cover into theatrical territory.
