Mass Appeal Records and Nas announced their 'Legend Has It' series, which features seven new albums from seven different hip-hop icons. Raekwon is one of those legends and his contribution to this series is The Emperor's New Clothes.
On a pleasant summer Saturday Night in New York City, rock and roll legendsThe Who played Madison Square Garden on their supposed farewell tour titled The Song Is Over. Before the band started up Pete Towshend stated that The Who had played MSG 36 times and that this would "probably" be the last time, so the door is still open to a return.
It has been four years since the New Orleans, LA based outfit Silver Synthetic played NYC and on a hot summer night in August they returned to the same venue as four years ago, Union Pool in Brooklyn. Over that time the band has evolved, and the receptive crowd on Thursday night supported the group's return.
The Vermont jam legends Phish wrapped up the July section of their summer tour with a swing through New York and RtBE was able to catch four out of the five shows they played in the Empire State. While the band takes a short breather until September, it was clear from all in attendance that for a band that has been active for over 40 years, they still have a lot of gas left in the tank.
The tour that is being billed as the The Final Chamber (the supposed last time all the living members of the Wu-Tang Clan will be on stage together) made an appearance at the world's most famous arena on Wednesday night July 16th. If this was truly a finale from Wu-Tang it was incredibly memorable and magnanimous as the Wu turned this tour stop into a celebration of not only their fantastic career, but of old-school hip-hop in general, with a host of special guests sharing the stage.
The Philadelphia based Dr. Dog ceased touring in 2021 but have not retired. They released their excellent self titled album last year and occasionally play a few shows here and there. The groups largest NYC headlining concert to date took place on Saturday night June 21st at Forrest Hills Stadium in Queens.
To celebrate the release of his new album, Always Been, Craig Finn decided to throw a party with an all-star backing band at the Bowery Ballroom on Friday night May 30th. The sold-out crowd arrived early, packing the small downtown Manhattan venue.
It is of the recent John Fogerty show at the Beacon Theater on Wednesday May 28th. He might be 80, but he still rocks out. This was RtBE's first time seeing him and we were not disappointed.
Support the artist (buy his new album when it comes out) read the review and peep some video below:
On an unseasonably cool and rainy May evening, Tedsechi Trucks Band continued their six-night residency at the Beacon Theater on the upper west side of Manhattan. Making this fourth night of the run extra special was that it was the last to have the legendary Buddy Guy and his band opening the show.
We search the murky back waters of youtube to find full concerts and post them to the site weekly, come back every seven days to help us celebrate Full Show Friday's. These shows are of varying quality and may not be here for long so enjoy them while you can...As always, please support the artist every which way, but especially by seeing them live (if they are still playing)...This week...New York Dolls!
Some incredibly rare footage from the Dolls in 1973 upstairs at Max's Kansas City.
It looks awful, sounds worse, but hot damn it is the Dolls in the prime! A cool historical capturing if not the best sounding.
RtBE not only writes about music, but also creates some. Angels & Vagabonds (mostly) acoustic EP titled Anyways...turns ten years old.
It is exciting to go from critic/reviewer of music, to creator of tunes. Special thanks goes out to friends and bandmates who helped with this one. While it has been quite a few years since a release from the group, more music is actually on the way...
It is of Tunde Adebimpe's debut on Sub Pop records titled Three Black Boltz. If you dig his main act TV on the Radio, you will most certainly dig this.
