Live Review: Wu-Tang - The Final Chamber 7/16/25 NYC Madison Square Garden

Wu-Tang Clan - The Final Chamber
w/ Run The Jewels
7/16/25 NYC Madison Square Garden

The tour that is being billed as the The Final Chamber (the supposed last time all the living members of the Wu-Tang Clan will be on stage together) made an appearance at the world's most famous arena on Wednesday night July 16th. If this was truly a finale from Wu-Tang it was incredibly memorable and magnanimous as the Wu turned this tour stop into a celebration of not only their fantastic career, but of old-school hip-hop in general, with a host of special guests sharing the stage.

Before all of that retro love got started, Run The Jewels kicked off the night with their modern focused hip-hop set. Killer Mike and hometown boy El-P, backed by Trackstar the DJ, began the night with "Legend Has It" as the group were very excited to be opening for the Wu and playing the Garden. They delivered numbers like "Call Ticketron" and "Blockbuster Night, Pt. 1" while shouting out (and bringing onstage) family. The energetic outfit wrapped up the successful opening set with their three best tunes, "ooh la la", "Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)" and "Angel Duster" as the sold out crowd slowly trickled in.

For the Wu-Tang's set the band staged it like a true performance arriving one by one with ringleader RZA starting the night before slowly bringing out all members of the Clan with Barsun Unique Jones aka Young Dirty Bastard taking up the role of his father. From the beginning the group played the hits, backed by both a live band and a DJ. Banging efforts like "Bring da Ruckus" and "Clan in da Front" were early highlights while "Da Mystery of Chessboxin’" found the music cut out (intentionally) for Masta Killah's verse before the GZA announced "We Are Home" and RZA sprayed some champagne.

From there the night flowed out with multiple showcases for solo efforts and special guests. Commercials for upcoming projects aired while outfits were changed and different iterations of the Clan took over the spotlight. Raekwon (who sounded and looked great in a Gucci apron) and Ghostface Killa (who sounded the roughest and rawest of the bunch) were the first two up, joined by Cappadonna to drop some crowd favorites from Only Built 4 Cuban Linx.... The string of  special guests started with The LOX joining and Havoc from Mobb Depp who got one of the best reactions all night when he performed "Shook Ones, Pt. 2" with Raekwon.

When it was Method Man's turn in the spotlight he thanked the crowd for selling out the Garden and following his theme song "Method Man", pulled a pump fake telling the fans that Redman was overseas and couldn't make it, only to bring him out for two songs to a standing ovation. GZA and RZA then brought the Shaolin style with a focus on the excellent Liquid Swords as the title track and "Duel of the Iron Mic" both reverberated around the garden excellently.

RZA then took time to shoutout fallen friends from the hip-hop world and brought out guests to pay tribute. Notorious BIG, Phife Dawg, Guru and more were honored by the likes of Slick Rick, Big Daddy KaneLil Cease, Lil Kim, and SWV. The stars were truly out this night at MSG as a proper celebration of hip-hop was in full force.

The full Clan came back to wrap up with a showcase to ODB performed by YDB with a animations of the original on "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" and "Got Ya Money". Each artist contributed to close the night on two classics as "C.R.E.A.M" and "Triumph" as the crowd sang along and cellphones came out to record the moment. As the night ended, RZA thanked the crowd and those who helped make this special night happen which may just be the last time all of the superheroes in the Wu-Tang Clan join forces at in their hometown.
