Happy Thanksgiving from RtBE!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Make sure you spend some time over this holiday doing what is truly important...Watching The Last Waltz:
For the gear heads reading this, here is an excellent run down of all the equipment used for this historic show.
Since it is a holiday here in the USA, also make sure to enjoy your time with loved ones and family. As a famous man once said, "Enjoy Every Sandwich"...especially the leftover turkey, mashed potato, stuffing and gravy ones on potato rolls...
The last few years we have thrown it back to Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades of the past and this years no different.
Here is the 1998 Thanksgiving Day Parade, now go get stuffed!

Live Streams: Phish
With live music on lock down (like everything else currently in New York City) live streams and old concerts have become essential for live music junkies like RtBE. While this current state of pandemic is in order we will highlight various shows/streams/virtual events for your viewing and listening pleasure and you can always check out or weekly Full Show Friday series for concerts from the past.
Today we will highlight: Phish
While technically not a live stream, every Tuesday Phish is doing Dinner and a Movie. Sharing a recipe and streaming a show from their past. Tonight they return to Columbia, Maryland on July 27th, 2014 at 8pm EST:
It is a pretty cool way to relive some live Phish memories and eat some food. On the new side of things front man Trey Anastasio has been working on writing new tunes and putting them up on his Instagram feed. Check out one:
Also here is some live Phish, the funky version of "Cavern" from The Island Tour in 98, to get you ready for tonight's show:

Phish Fall Tour Dates - Returning to the Islands Tour
Tour date Tuesday continues as we promote the Fall tour from Jamband kings Phish.
It looks like the band is re-living their fantastic 1998 Spring Island tour as they play both Rhode Island and Long Island again. For those unaware, Phish was in the midst of recording The Story of the Ghost and got stir crazy, so they booked a mini four show tour in Rhode Island and Long Island. RtBE was lucky enough to catch the first Nassau show.
The tour is well regarded as the band got fuuuunky and played extended and unique versions of tunes as well as debuting some future warhorses like "Birds of a Feather". Here's hoping they go back that route this Fall, as full dates are below and a few tunes from the '98 Island tour are there as well to get us all in the mood.

12/6 – North Charleston Coliseum – Charleston, SC

Gang Starr's Career Highlight Moment of Truth Turns 20
This weekend marks a milestone for a hip hop classic record. Gang Starr's Moment of Truth turns twenty years old on the Saturday so we figured we would celebrate a few days early.
This album will always have a special place in our heart. It came out in our college days and it seemed all of our friends were down with it. From top to bottom it is a great hip hop album that runs eighty minutes and shockingly, no tracks are weak; that itself is incredible rare.
We are not going to go in-depth here though, we will leave that to Clayton Purdom who did a damn good job of that over at the AV Club.
Quick story though...I was lucky enough to catch Gang Starr on this tour when they rolled into Tramps with M.O.P. opening for them. Hip Hop is not usually a live experience but this show was memorable because it was fantastic. M.O.P did everything an opening act should do, brought tons of energy, were short and to the point.
Gang Starr played almost all of their album with lots of the guests including Inspectah Deck showing up to do their parts. Freddie Foxxx was in attendance as well to do his verse on "The Militia" and I would wager that no one is as removed from their name as he is...that man was huge and roaring, far from sly.
DJ Premier was excellent spinning and cutting records while Guru kept things moving and the whole night was a hoot in the packed club. A fantastic memory of a great night of music with good friends.
To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the release of Moment of Truth let's do the best thing possible, listen to some tracks:
And RtBE will end with our favorite track from an LP chock full of them:

Full Show Friday: Mariah Carey Tokyo Dome 1998
We search the murky back waters of youtube to find full concerts and post them to the site weekly, come back every seven days to help us celebrate Full Show Friday's. These shows are of varying quality and may not be here for long so enjoy them while you can...As always, please support the artist every which way, but especially by seeing them live (if they are still playing)...This week...Mariah Carey.
After our focus on jazz in January we move to popular arts and acts for February, staying pop with Mariah Carey this week.
Actually we are kinda surprised this artist has had a long and successful career, to even still be relevant in 2017 is a win for her. Granted, 2017 started off brutal for her with a lip sync fiasco on NYE and her recent performance on Jimmy Kimmel was brutal to these ears.
Let's go back to 1998 and let her sing in Tokyo...Enjoy:
P.S. Happy B-Day Ma'Dukes.
