Live Streams: Montreux Jazz Festival

With live music on lock down (like everything else currently in New York City) live streams and old concerts have become essential for live music junkies like RtBE. While this current state of pandemic separation is in order we will highlight various shows/streams/virtual events for your viewing and listening pleasure and you can always check out or weekly Full Show Friday series for concerts from the past. Please support the artists any which way you can.

Today we highlight: Montreux Jazz Festival

Like the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival has had to (at least) delay this years version, so to hold fans over they made this announcement:
“During this unprecedented time, fans will have the chance to experience iconic performances by some of their favourite artists from their living rooms, including rare concerts from ‘The Godfather of Soul’ James Brown, who played Montreux Jazz Festival in 1981 and the legendary Nina Simone in 1976. Fans will also be able to enjoy Johnny Cash’s 1994 Live at Montreux performance, as well as the ground-breaking hip hop group RUN DMC’s electrifying show in 2001."
While not streaming live (obviously), the opening of this vault is pretty great and you can access them whenever you have the time to enjoy these killer shows (Thanks to Scott for the heads up).

Go here to find out all of the details and to get ready for this opening of the vault, here are The Raconteurs from their 2008 set at Montreux:
