Live Streams: WWOZ Groove Gala

With live music on lock down (like everything else currently in New York City) live streams and old concerts have become essential for live music junkies like RtBE. While this current state of pandemic separation is in order we will highlight various shows/streams/virtual events for your viewing and listening pleasure and you can always check out or weekly Full Show Friday series for concerts from the past. Please support the artists any which way you can.

Today we highlight: WWOZ Groove Gala

While it pained us to not be able to be in New Orleans with the cancellation of Jazzfest, the best at home concert experience we had was Festing In Place put on by WWOZ.  Tomorrow comes their next Fest in place and it kicks off tonight with the Groove Gala:

Join us on Thursday, September 3rd for WWOZ's Virtual Groove Gala! Wear your favorite festival attire as we unite and gather virtually so everyone around the world can safely celebrate WWOZ’s incredible 40 years of broadcasting and Guarding the Groove. Our amazing talent lineup includes Irma Thomas, @tankandthebangas, John Boutté, @samanthafishmusic, Kermit Ruffins, @amandashawmusic with Rockin’ Dopsie Jr., and @therealtubaskinny! In past years, our sold-out gala was held in the heart of the French Quarter at the historic Le Petit Theatre and Tableau Restaurant, with room for only 350 Guardians of the Groove. This year, we are presented with a unique opportunity to open the doors to a worldwide virtual audience so there’s room for everyone to groove with us! The gala will begin at 7pm on Thursday, September 3, streaming via our Facebook page, YouTube, and wwoz.org, and broadcasting on 90.7 FM. Save the date, tell your friends, get ready to wave your handkerchief in the air and dance at home with us-- and remember to support #WWOZ! wwoz.org/donate 🎧 #groovegala
