About the song the group states:
"The brutality a nation sends outward never stays gone, but arcs back to hollow out the society that launched it."
The collective add that the track was inspired in part by a quote from Afro-Martinican French poet, author, and politician Aimé Césaire: "The colonizer, who in order to ease his conscience gets into the habit of seeing the other man as an animal, accustoms himself to treating him like an animal, tends objectively to transform himself into an animal. It is this result; this boomerang effect of colonization."
