Free Summer Shows in NYC

Well it is officially Summer here in the Big Apple, while most people love to escape town on the weekends we kinda love the empty streets and heat. One of the pluses of the hotter weather is the insane amount of Free Concerts in NYC.
I am not going to list all of them, you can find many sites like My Free Concert here or check out NYC Parks site for more. Oh My Rockness also does a hell of a job compiling all of these. You can check out House of Vans or ilovefreeconcerts for more.
There are literally shows around every corner it seems like, whether the sun is shining or setting during June July and August in New York there will be free tunes. We will highlight a few we hope to check out (starting with some this week), just click that read more.

Warpaint, Yellowbirds Celebrate Brooklyn 6/26.
We dig those Warpaint ladies newest disk, in fact the review of their first album is one of our most read reviews on the site. We may not make it out with the USA playing earlier in the day, but this would be a fun one.

Shovels and Rope, Valerie June, Shakey Graves Celbrate Brooklyn 6/27
Back to back great shows in the band shell. We have been keeping tabs on S&R since Voodoo Fest (new album coming out this summer) We dig on Valerie June who is a stunner in looks and sound, this would be a great way to start the weekend.

Gorilla Biscuits, Bouncing Souls House of Vans 7/10.
Never have seen one of our favorite NYHC bands of all time, and hope to remedy that come the 10th of July when we check out the Gorilla Biscuits. "Start Today" Indeed:

Titus Andronicus Brooklyn Night Bazaar 7/11
We caught them there a few years ago opening for the Hold Steady, so this one could be fun especially if they play new tunes from their upcoming rock opera...that could be really cool. Who we kidding we just want to hear The Monitor from front to back...

Four Knots Fest Seaport 7/12
We will be there like always....especially cause Dino Jr. is playing Boosh!

La Luz MOMA 7/31
We loved these ladies last album, would like to check them out and see MoMA on this night. QUite a nice combo.

That's a hell of a free starter kit....Enjoy your summer.
