A magnum opus of early Dylan. A song that is mystical and heated, politically charged while never explicit. One of the more expansive songs he has written and an early indicator that Dylan was on another level lyrically. From Ezra Pound to Bette Davis there are literary references, pop culture bits and a complete fabled world that comes alive in the ears. A true high point when it comes to Bob Dylan songs.

We are not fans of My Chemical Romance. That doesn't mean we won't check out their cover though...
Thoughts on Cover:
Ok, first things first this is not an easy song to cover on any level. Most covers are straight ahead folk retelling's of the long tale. The fact that this band decided to try to encapsulate the winding "Desolation Row" into a 3 minute pop/punk/rock number is audacious. We really love when bands try to twist the bards words into new styles. This one though didn't really do it for us, but we always love checking out novel cover choices, and this one was recommended to us. Until next week.
