In this ongoing Monday Series we will be exploring various artists versions of Bob Dylan song's. Today's tune is a live cover by Counting Crows performing "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere"
From the first time we addressed this cover:
A great song, and one that sounds so simple. It always felt to me that these are the kind of songs Dylan has seeping out of his pores, with lines like "Tailgates and Substitutes" that anywhere else would sound foolish yet here works wonders. The musical backing from the original Band version is loose and matched fantastically with the lyrics. I am sure it wasn't as easy going as it sounds on the final version, but what a gem of a track.

Thoughts on Cover Artist:
RtBE are split on the Counting Crows, the sites editor loves them and has seen them live multiple times, while the main writer is not a fan, but has to admit August and Everything After is a solid album.
Thoughts on Cover:
This is a very good cover from the band that fits with the shaggy, loose, free wheeling spirit of the original. The Counting Crows have fun with it, as they should, and that joy seeps through to the listener.
