Dylan Cover #183 Angelique Kidjo "Lay Lady Lay"

In this ongoing Monday Series we will be exploring various artists versions of Bob Dylan song's. Today's tune is a cover by Angelique Kidjo playing "Lay Lady Lay"
This month our Dylan Cover Series will focus on artists playing The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Angelique Kidjo will play the festival on Sunday April 26th

Thoughts on Original:
From the first time we addressed a cover of this tune:
Excellent track and the first time the world heard Dylan's new singing style, which would only last for Nashville Skyline. This song is the standout track from this album, it is a classic and so simple, yet sweet and timeless. One of Dylan's best tracks, this phase was the the closest to "country" he ever got and "Lay Lady Lay" is an overall fantastic piece of music.

Thoughts on Cover Artist:
We have never seen Angelique Kidjo live and will unfortunately miss her this year at the fest, but dig her style. She has done a lot of different styles and works with a range of people. Def one of the more interesting artists we have featured in this series.
Thoughts on Cover:
An quick stroll through a very pleasant cover song. Focusing basically on Kidjo's vocals the cover is easy basic and delightful. Perfect for a spring day.
