These shows are of varying quality and may not be here for long so enjoy them while you can...As always, please support the artist every which way, but especially by seeing them live (if they are still playing)...This week...Mozart Gala Concert: 250 Years of Mozart!

Live Review: Classic Quadrophenia Live 9/9/17 @ The MET NY, NY

Hey all, got a new review up @glidemag which you can read Right C'here!!!
It is of Pete Townshend's Classic Quadrophenia Live at The Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. For those new to RtBE Quadrophenia holds a special place in this sites digital heart, it is our favorite album of all time.

We can write a book on the album and should probably do something based around that at some point, and we have seen the band do it in 2013 down by the Sea and Sand in Atlantic City. That show had some issues, but we had a fucking blast. Same with this show, it was goofy, over the top and not true to the original...but we had a great night anyway.

The venue was gorgeous, company was top fucking notch and the music was divine. Enjoy the review, feel free to catch it live if you can, buy the vinyl or DVD. Hey and peep some video below:

Classic Quadrophenia Comes To Metropolitan Opera House

One of the greatest rock and roll song writers of all time is partnering with a full on orchestra to bring his best album to life at a gorgeous venue.

Pete Townshend''s amazing Quadrophenia will be supported by a full orchestra and vocalists including Billy Idol this September for four United States shows. We are pumped to be hitting the September 9th show at the pristine Met Opera House.

We have talked about this before on the site, but this is our all time favorite rock and roll album. While we saw The Who play it by the Sea and Sand a few years back, catching it in this fashion will be exhilarating...and being able to walk up to the venue is a sweet touch as well.

Here is some video to get you prepped for the fall shows, and a full list of the mini tour is below:

Classic Quadrophenia Tour Dates

September 2 – Lenox, MA @ Tanglewood
September 9 – New York, NY @ Metropolitan Opera House
September 10 – New York, NY @ Metropolitan Opera House
September 16 – Los Angeles, CA @ The Greek Theatre

Amazing Article, Phantom of The Orchestra, on Japanese Classical Music Insanity

We have mentioned longform.org here before and it is still our go to for informative thought out articles. This one regarding Mamoru Samuragochi and Takashi Niigaki is pretty amazing.
Christopher Beam paints an extremely detailed picture that deals with deception, music, honor, artistry, suffering and perhaps most deeply, Japanese culture.

It was well worth your time and it will be interesting to see how this develops in the near future. In America they would feud for a while, then team up and tour the country for money, before probably breaking up and getting back together once or twice.

Things are obviously different in Japan and having zero knolwedgee of the the culture I am just simply intrigued as to where.this will lead. Until then there is always the music.

RIP Levon Helm

We already paid some respects here, but we just wanted to note the passing of an American Rock and Roll Legend.
Levon Helm Died today, he was 71.  Some obituaries here and here to read up on him, needless to say he inspired generations of (and will continue with his recordings) musicians to go for it, RtBE staff included.  We could (and maybe will in the future) write much more regarding him, but for now we will just post this, one of our favorite Levon moments, and raise a glass to a great musician and idol.

What a voice, what a player.  Levon, you will always live on.

Duane Allman's Guitar Rides Again!

From the fantastic Scott Bernstein over at Hidden Track comes this nice little tid-bit...Seems Nels Cline played Duane Allman's 1957 Les Paul Gold Top when Wilco recently played Georgia
While I am not the biggest Nels fan I recognize a pretty cool move when I see one...Well played Nels, as you can hear from the song that Scott posted.

I will contribute some of Skydog's amazing playing from over the year to warm the ears on this breezy Wednesday:
"Loan Me A Dime" with Boz Scaggs.  The blues here is thick as a brick...dive in, if you have never had the pleasure of haering this one get ready.

"Toe Hold" yup that's Duane backing up Wilson Pickett

And we will finish it off (how else) but with The Allman Brothers and a rare chance to actually see the man play my favorite tune that they do..."Whipping Post"

God dam that boy could play....keep flying high Skydog!
