The (just turned) 86-year-old blues legend Little Freddie King fell in love with New Orleans and moved there when he was a young teen. Cousin of Lightnin' Hopkins, Kings connection to the blues runs as deep as possible and for his career (which is still ongoing) LFK called the Bywater establishment BJ's Lounge home, playing there as often as he could over the past thirty years. Now comes his definitive live record, the double album Live at BJ's Lounge and it is the best he has ever sounded anywhere.

Following up quickly on the heels of their disappointing 2025 release No Rain, No Flowers,  Peaches is much more connected to Delta Kream, a cover record based in the blues, but with a few more twists and turns from the Hill Country style showcased on that record.

From the first time we tackled a cover of this tune:

From the barren blues of Time Out Of Mind comes "Million Miles". While not a standout on that album, the song was prophetic, hinting at the fantastic twelve bar blues variations that would dominate Dylan's next two releases. When first heard though it doesn't jump out, just feels like yet ANOTHER solid track from the bard that is ripe for covering.

Last month we reviewed GA-20's first installment of Orphans, eight cover songs of blues and soul. Now comes Orphans Volume 2, four more blues and soul covers from the rocking act. The timing of the release is odd as it arrives only two months after the original, and is incredibly brief, containing only four songs, which had been recorded sometime ago. Whatever the logistical reason for separating the two EP's, the music on both is stout.

Year In Review 2025 - Favorite Albums Part 1 (Honorable Mentions & Let Downs)

Another year is finishing up and @RockBodElec wouldn't be a proper music site if we didn't end the year with a "Best Of" list, so RtBE presents 2025's Favorite Albums Part 1 (Honorable Mentions and Let Downs):

In the instance that RtBE has reviewed the album, either on this site or elsewhere, we will link to that review and just give a quick summation, click on the name/title and you can read our full opinion. RtBE also worked with the Glide Team to give input on their Top 20, so you can expect some overlap if you already have seen that list.

Again the focus here is on full albums, not singles, but long playing releases you can slap on and listen all the way through. We know these are a dying breed, but it still is the way we consume music, no shuffle, Spotify, AI curated playlists, or streaming for us.

These are the albums that just missed out on being included in our top ten favorite for the year (coming soon). After some excellent albums, we have a few releases from artists we dig, which we were let down by. 

Like all of our lists or 'best of'', these are meant to start conversations, not end them...
