Dylan Cover #539 Bob Malone "Tangled Up In Blue"

In this ongoing Monday Series we will be exploring various artists versions of Bob Dylan song's. Today's tune is a cover by Bob Malone performing "Tangled Up In Blue"

Thoughts on Original:
From the first time we tackled a cover of this track:
Wow. The song that never ends, the tune that might just best sum up Dylan, if that is remotely possible. Dylan constantly toyed with this song (check out the Rolling Thunder and Real Live version's if you haven't yet) and even he knows it can't stay stagnant in one form for long, so covering it is a good bet.  Needless to say it is in the top 5 greatest songs he ever wrote if we were ranking them...hmm.

Thoughts on Cover Artist:
Bob Malone is the keyboard player for John Fogerty, but can sing and lead a band with the best of them as this smoking cover proves...

Thoughts on Cover:
A full on blues shaker with bright horns, backup singers, slamming drums, piano runs, screaming guitar riffs and more as the supped up jam propels the Bard's lyrics to soulful rock heights. Malone's singing is assured as he runs through the classic tale among the confident rock sound. A winning cover on all fronts and a highlight of this long running series.
