Dylan Cover #423 Shannon McNally "She Belongs To Me" Live

In this ongoing Monday Series we will be exploring various artists versions of Bob Dylan song's. Today's tune is a cover by Shannon McNally playing "She Belongs To Me"
This month we have a special focus on artists who will be playing the 2020 Jazzfest in New Orleans. Today we highlight Shannon McNally who plays The Fais Do-Do Stage Friday, May 1st.

Unfortunately due to the outbreak of Covid19, Jazzfest has been rescheduled for October (no official date as of yet). Hopefully all of the scheduled acts are healthy and will be performing then, but since we crafted these posts before the outbreak, RtBE will still post them this month and will regroup/revisit things in the fall when (hopefully) things return to semi-normal.

Thoughts on Original:
The first song in this series was a different cover of this track, here is what I wrote about it then and still feel the same way:
This is a gem of a song, a twisted tale that entwines beauty and deceit, darkness and sparkling Egyptian Red Rings.  One of Dylan's best in it's mystery, elusiveness and bitter biting undertones; really pure Dylan and one of his all time classics.  Loved it when I first heard it, still love it today.

Thoughts on Cover Artist:
We have not heard of Shannon McNally before, but in doing some research she sounds great and we can't wait to catch her at the Fairgrounds on May 1st.

Thoughts on Cover:
A really delightful country influenced take on the tune. Fairly straight ahead, but soothing strings and glorious vocals from McNally who really takes it over the top with a dynamite guitar solo that simply cooks. A great cover and one of the better ones found in this series.
