Dylan Cover #550 The Flaming Lips - Lay Lady Lay

In this ongoing Monday Series we will be exploring various artists versions of Bob Dylan song's. Today's tune is a cover by The Flaming Lips playing "Lay Lady Lay"

This month we are doing another special focus in RtBE's Dylan Covers series. In the past we have highlighted The ByrdsCoulson-Dean-McGuiness-FlintThe HolliesJoan OsbourneMountainBetty LeVette , Reggae Covers and many more.

This month we highlight Dylan...Revisited for a full month of Dylan Covers.

Thoughts on Original:
From the first time we addressed a cover of this tune:
Excellent track and the first time the world heard Dylan's new singing style, which would only last for Nashville Skyline. This song is the standout track from this album, it is a classic and so simple, yet sweet and timeless. One of Dylan's best tracks, this phase was the the closest to "country" he ever got and "Lay Lady Lay" is an overall fantastic piece of music.

Thoughts on Cover Artist:
RtBE have been fans of the Flaming Lips for a while, ever since seeing them at Lollapalooza back in 1994.

Thoughts on Cover:
A fairly tame cover from the spaced out rockers, as the acoustic and slight warble effects are fine, just not earth changing.  A good way to ease into this month and this newer collection of Dylan covers.
